The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson
3.0

I tore through the first 150 pages of this book and loved it. I thought the mix of perspectives and messaging was great. And then something shifted in my interest and the remaining 400 pages were kind of a slog. There’s a ton of great stuff about economics and politics and religion and basically anything to do with modern life, but I think it just had too much in it to continue to have momentum throughout. The chapters writers from the perspective of concepts or elements initially charmed me but as the book continued they just started to annoy me. I liked the message about climate change in this book and I also learned a lot, but as a book I thought the length due to repetition and lack of special written language were pretty big flaws.
