This book had alot of potential.  There are 3 valleys - the present, the past and the future.  Its citizens are aware to each valley but visiting between the valleys are strictly controlled to avoid interfering with the timeline. Odile yearns to be a Conseil - this position decides who is allowed to travel to the other valleys.  The story follows how events effect the future.  At times it stalls but the ending is decent.  Recommend for a vacation read.
