Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler
2.0

If you want a book that makes you yell at the pages, this is it. If you want a book that makes you grateful that you are not a woman enduring the 1920s - 40s, this is it. If you want to be frustrated by and sympathetic to one such woman, Zelda is your girl. It’s a swirling and dense read with too many names to remember and the writing is fine, but its crowning achievement is that it made me appreciate the hellscape of the 2020s when compared to the 1920s. Zelda could have sued Scott into the ground and gone after her dreams. Very reminiscent of Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper toward the end. Heavy sigh.
