I listened to this book and I was not a fan of the reader.   So it took me longer to get into the story.  But I enjoyed the plot and thought it was a fun read.

Sarah lives in a small town.  Her parents died in a car accident years ago. At a party her bff sam never shows up to, Sarah is worried about sam.  Sam is found dead on the beach that night.  It was ruled a suicide after a sorry note was found near her.  Except sam didn't write that note.  It was Sarah's note.  Sarah does digging and finds out that Sam's brother was responsible for the dead of Sarah's parents.  But their parents were so rich they paid off the cop who arrived at the scene and it never got out.   Sarah is out to find the truth of who killed sam.  She finds records of the brothers injuries after the accident and finds records of the pay out to the cop and to Sarah's grandma who was in the car with her parents.
Sarah is close to finding the truth.  She texts her suspicions to the cop on the case.   He comes to find Sarah but it turns out he was the cop that was paid off.  He goes to find Sarah to stop her from calling him out.  He starts to chase her and Sarah runs away. She runs through the dedication ceremony of a status for sam.   There Sam's brother sees Sarah running away from the cop and pushes him before he can shoot Sarah.  The cop falls off the cliffs into the water to die.   The brother is arrested for that death but none of the others.  Turns out sam had figured out the whole plan also and the cop killed her so she wouldn't tell anyone.   The ending is Sarah had invested the money she got from her grandma in real estate and was doing well.
