I understand the appeal and importance of this book, as it does an amazing job of outlining themes and structure of classic myths and the hero’s journey. But there’s a reason I shy away from nonfiction for the most part and this book, while containing a ton of knowledge that is useful in understanding mythology, is very dry. Most of the book was examples of an indeterminate length that Campbell used to prove the few paragraphs of theory that he wrote every chapter. An important book, but not a compelling one.
