Freida McFadden always manages to write ridiculously unhinged books, and this one did not disappoint. i was worried at first since the pacing was slow at the beginning, but as things started to build up, i was hooked and finished the book fairly quickly. i think i like this book even more than the first in the series. i had no idea how things would unfold, and it definitely wasn’t what i expected. although this book doesn’t pick up exactly where the first one left off, i didn’t feel lost regarding where millie was in her life (plus there’s some context provided).

however, from the first book, i already knew that millie is somewhat of an unreliable narrator, especially as the second character’s pov was introduced. while that was predictable, the outcome of the story and the characters’ motives were not. overall, I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to finish the series with The Housemaid Is Watching.
