One of my least enjoyable reads this year by far. I am so over the bratty 20-yr old FMCs who are rude and belligerent but somehow pretty much everyone loves anyways. The dialogue was often cringy and made the characters feel like snotty pre-teens. The chemistry between the FMC and MMC was non-existent — it’s never entirely clear why she likes him eventually (she was always attracted to him cuz he’s hot obviously, but very vague as to where the love came from) and 100% just stated that he loves her, without any explanation as to why.

The plot was somewhat interesting but shockingly unoriginal — elemental magic, a prophecy, a magical bond, an evil king who hates magic, the FMC is afraid to use her powers because she can’t control them … maybe 5% of the book actually contained creative new ideas. Arguments were repetitive and frustrating and there weren’t nearly enough female characters; outside of the FMC there were literally two other women of note, and one of them was a bitchy queen. I could continue ranting about how much I disliked this book but I’ll leave it with 0/10 rating, did not have a good time.
