This book was hard to read, but I’m so happy I was able to get though the whole thing. It’s a magical memoir and I think that’s such an interesting way to write this and it was definitely the best way to write this. We watch Echo go from a young girl, who doesn’t really know what’s going on around her, to becoming a strong amazing women who defeat all the obstacles in her way. This book had so many impactful lines and so many good messages.
Rape was discussed many times in this book: Echos mom being raped by her uncle, Echo being raped by a man, Echo being raped by someone she thought she liked- it was really hard to read and I haven’t even been raped before.

This is such an amazing book for young adults to read and remember. It’s important stories like this are told so people know they’re not alone and so people can become more aware of these type of issues. Echo Brown is so strong and inspiring and I’m thankful she wrote this and birthed this book into the world.
