This book was not poorly written, but it just wasn't for me I guess. The "horror" elements of the book were more uncomfortable rather than tense or frightening. The ending was a bit too neat to fit how messy the main character acted. I was a bit annoyed at how explicitly stated all the books themes seemed to be, too.

Also, there is a fair amount of violence against animals that turned me right off.
