Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky
4.0
adventurous challenging mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

A lot to say, this felt like 4 books in one. Focus on humanizing characters like Kern was welcome. World building and explaining nonhuman society/history/intelligence is of course on point, but motivations felt much more personal this time around.
Felt a bit harder to follow at times than Children of Time, but communicating from the perspective of decentralized octopus brains is gonna do that.
