We Are All the Same in the Dark by Julia Heaberlin

5.0

This was a bookclub read and it was a great one. This is a twisty psychological thriller/mystery with some of the most well developed characters I’ve read in years, and a compassionately realistic portrayal of the human condition in all its flaws.

My favorite thing about this book, if I were forced to pick only one, would be how the main two female characters are portrayed. Both strong in their own rights, and both with visible losses (I won’t elucidate on that, just read the book). These women were so thoughtfully and lovingly put to page, and Julia Heaberlin will forever have a place in my heart because of it.

I couldn’t recommend a book any higher than this one. What are you waiting for? Go read it!
