Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them
by Newt Scamander, J.K. Rowling
This is my first time reading Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - I skipped over these supplementary little books upon previous readings of the Harry Potter series, but now with the movie coming out, my curiosity was peaked. As you probably already know, there's not much of a story here; instead it's a reference guide for magical creatures along with a little magical history. But as potentially boring as that sounds, Fantastic Beasts is instead a delightful example (yet again) of JK Rowling's boundless creativity and wonderful sense of humor. I giggled all the way through, especially at the footnotes. Loved it.
And could there be anything creepier than the Lethifold? I think not! Lots of great characters/creatures here to build a movie on and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
