I want to both recommend this book to everyone and also urge you not to read it. Every content warning applies. It’s upsetting, it’s more than unsettling, it’s a painful and blunt look at the “progress” of the human race. I know I’ll revisit this periodically, the commentary and intersection on human consciousness, the rise and fall of religion, materialism, and the conflict of free will demands further attention.
