Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well by Sheila Heen, Douglas Stone

5.0

I liked this book a lot more than I expected I would, in particular considering the topic. As an HR professional, I hear about feedback almost daily, but the concepts presented by Stone and Heen brought novelty to the theme and a fresh perspective on how to receive, instead of giving feedback.

The center of the book revolves around the types of feedback and how to react to them in the best way possible: appreciation, evaluation and coaching. The authors bring perspectives on the mismatch of expectations between giver and receiver, personal blind spots individuals have on their own flaws, the role the giver has on how we receive the feedback, and etc. It's a very complex book, with lots to digest and good scenarios that exemplify how the situations might take place.

There were great advices in this book, points that I had never thought about and that I will take with me in my personal and professional life. I highly recommend this read, doing it with an open mind and lots of self reflection.
