Floodgates by Mary Calmes

5.0

I wish I could read this again for the first time.

Everything is from Tracy's point of view. I found his understanding-curve to progress organically through the course of the story, his blind spots aren't always obvious to the reader. (To this one, anyway.) I guessed the perp but the way it's revealed is good. The end maybe goes on a little longer than necessary, but I enjoyed it: it has a purpose.

I've seen a couple reviews comparing this (unfavorably) to another novel of the author's, A Matter of Time. I'll read the free sample. Maybe I'll agree. Floodgates hooked me in before I finished the second chapter; Tracy's voice stays true all the way through.
