Sybil Delling has spent nine years as a Diviner in the great cathedral, receiving prophetic visions in her dreams. When her fellow seers begin disappearing mysteriously, she's forced to seek help from Rodrickโa rude, handsome knight who scorns her divine gift. Together, they must leave the safety of the cloister to face the gods, for only a heretic can defeat the divine.

I'm absolutely obsessed with this book! Rachel Gillig has outdone herselfโI actually think I loved this even more than One Dark Window, which is saying something considering how much I adored that one.
From the start, I already knew I was going to love this. The medieval atmosphere absolutely transported me, with its windswept moors, ancient cathedrals, and mysterious quests. But what really hooked me was the incredible dynamic between Sybil and Rodrick. Their banter is absolutely ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ง'๐ด ๐ฌ๐ช๐ด๐ดโsharp, witty, and crackling with tension.
And Sybil's gargoyle?? Her little stone companion has officially claimed the title of my new favorite side character. Every scene with the gargoyle had me either laughing or completely charmed. His character just added the perfect blend of humor and heart that honestly elevated the entire story.
The plot kept me completely invested throughout their perilous quest. Rachel wrote a story filled with mystery, adventure, and those satisfying reveals that make you want to immediately flip back and catch all the clues you missed.
If you're debating formats, I highly recommend the audiobook. The narration brings the medieval world and character voices to life beautifully, making the banter even more delicious and the gargoyle even more dramatic.
This is everything I want in a romantasy novel: atmospheric world-building, swoonworthy romance, unforgettable characters, and a quest that kept me on the edge of my seat. Highly, highly recommend!
