The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen
5.0
Sarah Dessen is one of the authors that made me fall in love with reading. I remember The Truth About Forever being one of those books that drew me in and made me fall deeply in love with the story, the characters and the lessons.
Macy is someone who felt grief deeply and she used perfection as a form of control. I am someone who can really relate to Macy. I love routine, lists and being perfect. I remember at a young age learning that it’s okay to just let things happen and have some fun. Macy grows so much throughout this book. I read this for the first time when I was in middle school maybe in 2010 and I felt like after reading this I also grew up and understood more about grief and healing. I recently reread this in 2020 and I still bawled my eyes out during a few parts of this book. It hit me just like it did so many years ago. Still an amazing piece of art in my opinion. This is a superior book. I think this is the best of Sarah Dessen’s novels and probably in my top five of all time favorite reads of my life thus far.
