Hallowed by Cynthia Hand
5.0

I have no idea why it took me so long to get to Hallowed. I mean, I loved Unearthly. All I remember was: I love this novel. And what is the only thing I remember about Hallowed when I come to write this review? I love this novel.

Hand has such a talent for writing. I just love her style. I know some people don't like present tense because they feel like they can't connect--but I connected with Clara so well again in Hallowed. I think it has more to do with Clara's voice than anything--her witty mental remarks that I found myself thinking the same thing and her need to protect her family.

Hand also made me fall in love with two incredibly sweet guys in the course of two books--Tucker and Christian. Despite the whole destiny thing, I really do believe that Clara and Christian were the better pairing. I love Tucker--he's witty, down to Earth and pretty damn good looking, and while I felt the chemistry, I felt like sometimes Clara wasn't being completely honest with her feelings. But I loved Clara for that because she was in denial because she wanted to be loyal in Tucker and believe in their relationship.

Hallowed and Unearthly aren't packed packed novels. They're very character driven and I usually find those kinds of books hard to get into. But the Unearthly series is truly spectacular. The characters are real, Hand's writing is amazing, and Boundless is just too far away for me to comprehend.
