The Jane Austen Handbook: A Sensible Yet Elegant Guide to Her World by Margaret C. Sullivan

informative lighthearted medium-paced

2.5

"The Jane Austen Handbook" was funny at times, informative at others, and tedious in a couple places. This book is essentially a crash course in Regency society, but some of it was just cheekily pulled from Austen's books. Like with all books from Quirk, the book itself is gorgeous and has excellent illustrations. I think all Jane Austen fans should read this at least once for a good chuckle.

P.S. Absolutely criminal that Mr. Woodhouse wasn't included in the list of biggest hypochondriacs from Austen's novels.
