5⭐️ | 4.5🌶️ (5?)

Okay, first off, I’d just like to say that I loved Nesta even before reading this book. And now after, I’m undoubtedly the biggest SIMP for this woman now. 🧎🏻‍♀️She is an amazing character.

Like I usually do with my reviews, I like to stew and ruminate on the book and my feelings after finishing them. And boy let me tell you what, I GOT THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS.

Nesta’s character was always so interesting to me, especially only knowing of her from her sister Feyre’s perspective. Always considered mean, standoffish, and an overall bitch. BUT, there were only surface level reasonings behind the way that she was being presented; and boy did this book throw back those curtains to reveal everything.

There were deep seating reasonings to why Nesta had built physical and mental shields to everyone and it wasn’t just to spite her family but to protect herself and protect others from herself. Her story is very much of personal growth, in all the ways that matter, whether it be physical or emotional.

However, it’s also so much more than that. It’s confronting your darkness and shadows that you hide deep within yourself. It’s resurfacing trauma and acknowledging it enough to move forward and heal from it. It’s breaking yourself apart bit by bit so that you can rebuild yourself into the person that you’re proud of. And it’s also, realizing that everyday is a challenge but one worth facing. Healing and acceptance isn’t easy but surrounding yourself with the people that truly care about you and help in anyway they can, isn’t taking defeat but saying yes to hope. We might feel like we don’t deserve the grace and love of others; but we do. We all deserve that hope.

With that being said, Nesta’s story was incredibly thought provoking and reached a part of myself that’s honestly still broken and healing. God, this book brought back so many memories from the past that really made me reevaluate myself. Which I do have to say, I frickin love that in a book. All be it a fantasy novel, the shit that characters can go through is as real as the ground we walk on.

For these reasons and so many more, I had to give this book a 5/5 stars. SJM, really knows how to write a character, and the fact that this book was such a profound looking glass into what she was actually experiencing in her life just makes it so special. This story was gripping in more ways than one and I honestly have to say that it’s in my top two books of the series so far. The relationship between Nesta and Cassian is and was superior and it constantly lives in my head rent free.

I could quite literally ramble on and on about how amazing this book and series are as a whole but I’ll end this review on a high note.

I rated this book’s spice level at a 4.5 🌶️. HOWEVER, I do realize that this is seriously the spiciest of all the books thus far. (Even though Feyre and Rhys know how to GET IT ON). Nesta and Cassian’s slow burn romance that ended up blowing up into this inferno and carnal need was utter perfection. I’m hesitant to give it a 5/5 but I’m willing to do a re-read and circle back on that front at a later date.

I’m moving on to ToG, continuing my journey into the Maasiverse. Then of course CC after that. I can’t wait to see how she will tie everything together and see just how interwoven these stories become.

Until next time!! 🧡🩶🖤
