Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie was probably the most detailed, and in-depth work of fiction I have ever read. In some areas- it felt unnecessarily drawn out. It is a definite time commitment. Jake Wolfe- ex-military operative retired into a photojournalist is the main character of this book. He hasn’t left military life behind completely. He is already ready for the next fight, and throws himself right into the action whenever possible. He is reckless at times, and We meet friends of Jake’s throughout the book, his connections to various slightly “gray” moral characters and how they are part of his story. This book shows terrorism, vindictive exes, corrupt, power-hungry police officers, and politicians. There are connections between the secret service, FBI, and local police department working to solve the murders of three lawyers. All killed in different places and with different methods by “The Artist” a Russian Assassin. When Jake accidentally spots the killer at the first murder, he is added to the Artist’s hitlist too. This book has a ton of action, a lot of creativity, twists and turns. Even Cody, Jake’s dog’s point of view is viewed throughout the book. I enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to having more time to read the other eight books of the Jake Wolfe series.
