The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal

5.0

I loved this. I don't read much science fiction but have been feeling like I ought to read more things across different genres. My enthusiam for mystery, which has been my main thing for decades now, has been waning lately - I keep thinking I've read this book before when actually it's just that I've seen all the devices so many times.

So I picked this pretty much at random from a list on my library app and adored it. A fun and interesting story in an alternative timeline where a meteor hits Washington DC in the 1950s and the space race accelerates as Earth becomes inhospitable to life. I'm pleased there are more books in the series.
