The Solace of Sharp Claws by Lana Pecherczyk is the second book in her series Fae Guardians and the second book in The Season of the Wolf trilogy; the Fae Guardians series is further broken into trilogies based on the species of the male main character. You can read each trilogy or book alone, but it’s best to read the series as numbered. I devoured this as an ebook on Kindle Unlimited.

This book was almost a sunshine/grumpy romance with forced proximity, as Thorne is a character with a giant chip on his shoulder and full of anger. Meanwhile, Laurel is ambitious and pushes with all her might against adversity. Both are trying to deal with pain in their past, and neither of them ever thought they would get married, but they stay together to find Thorne’s mentor - the male protagonist in the next book.

They are amusing together, as they bicker frequently, and grow to work together, as they come to understand one another. They both challenge each other and provide opportunities for growth and healing. Overall, I found the book to be more about letting go of resentment and trauma. It’s such a difficult process, and this book was catharsis. Hot chocolate and blankets are highly recommended to accompany this book!
