I enjoyed this book more than The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston. There was action from the get go and the descriptions didn't go on for an age. That was until about 18% of the way through when a key event occurred. The descriptions seemed to go on a bit and the pacing visibly slowed after that. To be honest, the pacing changed constantly throughout the book, and I only got used to it at about 30% of the way through. There were boring parts and great parts.

Fortunately, I liked Florence. I felt bad for her throughout but enjoyed her journey. It was a shame that I wasn't strongly moved by her story (this book was definitely a story about grief and living through it, as well as a romance) because I wanted to love it. Ben was a good guy though. He was another casualty of the huge guy with a tiny girl trope though. Note: I realised that this was another Reylo fan fiction. Are all new books Reylo fan fictions? His name was literally a mash up between Ben Solo and Cassian Andor? Regardless, I liked his interactions with Florence.

Having said that, Lee needed to get hit by karma. I wasn't satisfied with his conclusion in the book. On the other hand, Rose was fun. She had a good energy about her and was a solid friend to Florence.  The family drama was executed well and I was glad everything ended (unbelievably) happily ever after.

Overall, I'd say that the book was good but it didn't grip me. I liked the characters and the plot (grief was depicted well) but I was bored at times.
