Visceral and impactful. Amber takes a topic that has been dehumanized by virtue of the victims (read: little girls are taught to yell “fire” instead of “rape” because people are more likely to respond to a fire) and forces the reader to confront the dichotomy of victimhood and survivorship. I found the book painful, gut wrenching, powerful, and horrifying. TW throughout.
