This novel sounded promising: an art historian who can enter the world in which the artwork was created, sometimes taking others with her. However the world created did not live up to the hype. It was tough getting into this book, and keeping reading it. The characters were too flat and predictable for me, and none of the characters were likeable to help keep me interested. This was not a book suited towards my tastes as a fantasy, magical realism and historical fiction reader, but would likely better appeal to those who enjoy thrillers.
