Circe by Madeline Miller

5.0

This book saved me from my reading slump. Just pure perfection.

How do I even begin? Just the thought of this book is enough to well up my eyes! This book saved my reading life!

Background: I saw this book in one of the articles in Goodreads (https://lop.by/NNL) and saw that it appeared a few times. I was intrigued by it. I knew it was about Greek mythology and I am a big fan! This is the first book that I had purchased this 2020 and the first book that I have read after my slump from last year.

And boy... did I fall in love with reading again. And it birthed one of my favorite quotes of all time now.

“I thought: I cannot bear this world a moment longer. Then, child, make another.”

REVIEW (spoiler free)
The strongest point of this book was probably the writing style. IT WAS SO PERSONAL. I felt like I was reading Circe’s diary and I lived for every word in it! It was a slightly thick book and I was intimidated by it considering I was just getting out of my year-long slump. But reading it was one of the best decisions I have ever done in my whole reading life.

This is a fascinating tale centered as Circe's story and she wasn't overshadowed by the more prominent heroes and gods as they come and go in the story. SHE WAS IN THE CENTER OF IT ALL AND I LOVED IT.

I had recently finished watching The Witcher when I read this book and I kept imagining her as Yennefer! Haha.

The writing is soooooo goooood. I can’t even being to comprehend just how much I loved it. But I was hooked and kept turning and turning page after page. It made me feel so many emotions! This was not even a romance book to begin with. THIS IS PERFECTION!

The book is mainly about finding yourself, your strengths, your weaknesses, and what you’re capable of. I will never forget this story, I'd carry this until the day I die!

This book stroked my heart infinite times and I just want to hug it to my chest and never let it go. It reminded me why I started reading in the first place. I wish I had gotten a hardback (and I don’t really say that on a normal day). This book just raised the bar for all the books that I would read next. It was my first book of my 2020 and I already know that there would be nothing that would top it off! I know I started my new reading decade right.

Overall, I enjoyed this journey and I highly recommend this to EVERYONE. I think people who don’t read Greek mythology would also love this. I would never shut up about this book and this just jumped to front line of my recommendations list.

If you haven't read this yet, what are you waiting for?
