ARC Review- This was a 2.5 ⭐️ read. There were some parts that were interesting, but for the most part, I found myself bored and annoyed at the characters.
At first, I was so excited. I couldn’t put the book down because of the short chapters and the eventful plot. I liked how fast everything was progressing, and I found myself invested in the plot and characters– even the side characters 👀 And the third act truly was meaningful. I get it Lux. If that happened to me, I don’t even know if I could forgive him. But why this book wasn’t a 5 star read for me was more than what I enjoyed. I disliked the cheating in the beginning. Regardless of how Lux’s current boyfriend treated her, I disliked how Lux and Slate already started their relationship. At some point, there were SO MANY miscommunications. I get the attraction, I truly do. But they don’t communicate, and they don’t learn how. It’s frustrating, and in the end, I didn’t even care if they ended up together. And if they do, I don’t think they would last. And after 60%, I was close to giving up. Lux is so annoying. I thought her character was funny at first, but then like, dang girl. There’s literally no character development. She’s just constant and flat. If a character isn’t for me, it just brings the book rating down.
