The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh

3.0

Aw, man...Diffenbaugh, dang! I had high, high hopes for this one. It's been hyped, and others I know loved it. I can't say I didn't like it, but I wanted it to be so much more than it was. I will say that perhaps it had something to do with the audio narrator. I just didn't care that much about the characters. It has everything I love in a book. Dysfunctional family? Check. Coming-of-age? Check. Dealing with life against shitty odds? Check. But, it really fell short for me. I felt like it could have been so much more than it was, but maybe it's just me. I'm hovering again, as usual. 2 stars? 3? Ergh.
