The Midnight Library
by Matt Haig
This was not what I was expecting, its like trying to romanticize death, but its managed to make a really fascinating concept into something kinda dull… I wanted to love Nora, but she was also kinda like a wet blanket - her words not mine… lol
There are some trigger warnings you should be mindful of, but its not the focus, only the beginning - which is basically a girl unalives herself and ends up in the “midnight library” in-between life and death, where there are an infinite number of lives she gets to try on as she sees fit.
I think the moral of the story is… in the end, all those regrets wont matter and people will never be satisfied no matter what they have. Ultimately I found myself just as disappointed as Nora in this BUT I did think the ending was satisfactory. We all must make the choice to go on, despite the potential for disappointment.
