How To Make A Wish by Ashley Herring Blake
5.0

idk what i expected going into this but this book surpassed it.

ashley herring-blake's voice is addictive. it's funny, sensitive. both gentle and unafraid. i can't believe this is my first time ready a book of hers. i devoured it in less than a day and enjoyed it more than most things i've read recently.

the way she crafts characters is exceptional, and she's one of the few authors whose work has made me both laugh and cry, which is no small feat. she has the ability to make a book about hard things not feel weighed down by the immensity of them, sandwiching heartbreaking truths between jovial sarcasm and knowing smiles.

i felt connected to each character, their lives and feelings almost as tangible as if i knew them in real life. i spend my life searching for books that give me that same feeling: of comfort, of feeling at home in a world that isn't mine.

i beg you all to read this book.
