Skinny by Donna Cooner
4.0

3.5? 3.75? Not sure.

Anyways, I still liked this book. It kind of opened my eyes. But, like Brielle, the MC's stepsister, said, all she thought about was herself.I felt like this book focused too much on appearances. But I haven't really gone through what the MC has, so idk. Maybe I would've done the same thing as her, if I'd been in the same circumstances. >.> Considering the fact that it doesn't take much to make me feel very self conscious, haha. I could relate to Ever a lot on that part.

Spoiler

I'm guessing Skinny is figurative? That she assumed all of those voices? She did have a reason for that, but it's kind of like the "unreliable narrator" thing - you just see it the way the MC chooses to see/say it. Maybe the classmates or the people who interacted with her thought more than a bunch of derogatory thoughts. Sometimes I wonder how they actually thought of her. Or they could've all been jerks. The torture of wondering...

At first, I didn't want her to do the surgery. I was hoping she'd back out and lose weight through exercising and dieting, without the surgery. But then, everyone needs a push factor - and I don't mean just losing weight. At first no one minds doing what they have to do. But a few days later, a few weeks later you start slowing down or give up. Add in a push factor, and it gets done in no time. For Ever, she wanted to lose weight. The surgery made her start dieting and exercising.

So, yeah, this book opened my eyes in a lot of ways.

And something totally irrelevant-
SpoilerIt's over midnight, so I might be rambling. Also, I think I used too many "maybe"s? Sorry.
