The Grand Tour: Letters and Photographs from the British Empire Expedition 1922 by Agatha Christie

3.0

Reading this at the same time I was reading Thika really did make me feel like I was steeped in the Empire and think repeatedly of that meme of the Queen during the Olympics - "Look at all this places we used to rule" or whatever the tagline from it was. I quite enjoyed this, but I'm also a Christie aficionado and appreciated it mostly, I think, from that standpoint. Look - it's Agatha surfing! And participating in an on-board Talent Show! And speaking affectionately of the husband whose abandonment would kick off her infamous disappearance! If you aren't deep into Christie, I'm not sure that it would hold so much allure. The ephemera included is great - pictures, letters, menus and newspaper articles mostly - and it's really quite a handsome package.
