what a gem of a book. i can’t believe i DNF’d this twice before actually finishing it! while the beginning was a little slow (and since this book is cozy, and i have a hard time staying engaged with books that are cozy, it probably felt even slower to me), once the plot picked up and the competition began i was hooked! all of the characters are so loveable and the stories that jack masterson created are so endearing. i completely understand now why people will finish reading a book and rave about the found family aspect of it—this book has that in spades! i felt so warm and gooey and hopeful and sad for all of the characters and while definitely cozy, this book has a level of heart to it that makes for a truly great reading experience.
