I got through about half of this book. When I realized I had sped up my reading to a near skim and kept checking to see how many (of the MANY) pages I had left to go, I decided that life is too short to force a book I'm not enjoying.
I would not compare this to Narnia - Meloy does not have the same charm and humor as Lewis. This may be a good book for elementary school readers, but for me, it didn't have the all-ages appeal that truly great children's fiction has. It wasn't terrible by any means, but I found it too light in clever and heavy on precious.
