The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff

Iffy. I see the love Greta had for Einar/Lili. I don't feel much of it is reciprocated. The novel feels disjointed somehow. Einar/Lili is so overwhelmed by being in the wrong body that she doesn't appear able to form strong emotional relationships. Also somewhat puzzled at how the transgender identify is presented as a multiple personality behavior. I understand that the Lili the novel is based on did identify that way but it does make room for confusion. Transgender of which im aware I know little of still shouldn't be confused with a multiple personality disorder. I didn't care much for the characters either I am sad to say: Greta is so obviously ignoring herself and her needs, yet sometimes using Lili for painting; Lili's life challenge came out as self absorbed. The writing was very nicely done.
