Great and Horrible News: Murder and Mayhem in Early Modern Britain by Blessin Adams

1.0

The greatest and most horrible thing about this book - or should that be 'the greatest horrible thing'? - is the absence of a bibliography or notes but the moralising tone is a close second. I wanted to give it 3 stars for the hugely entertaining chapter on the mutilation of Francis Matthews but so much of what I didn't like was so dreadfully annoying and so...modern...that I couldn't.

ETA: I decided to remove a star. The chapter on Margret Vincent lingers in the air like a bad smell.
