Im Zeichen der Mohnblume - Die Kaiserin
by R.F. Kuang
DID NOT FINISH: 8%
I gave the 1st book 5 stars and I really wanted to like this one. Sadly, I did not.
Here are the reasons:
- I dislike the Charakters, especially Rin. She is just annoying now. She somehow managed to loose all her maturity and good points from book 1. Now it reads like the worst YA with an "I'm not like other girls, I'm a fighter and oh so damaged" protagonist.
2. The pacing. Even a snail is faster.
3. Sexism
4. Racism
5. The lazy worldbuilding. Take real countries, real people, real events and give them a different name. Slap magic on top of it. Can it be even called fantasy?
6. The revenge theme is just not my cup of tea.
7. I'm intimidated by the lenght of 796 pages (German translation). I'm not going to read it, if my enjoyment is 0.
