A Hope Divided by Alyssa Cole

3.0

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first book. I read the first book so quickly and was enthralled the entire time. This was more of a slow burn with really interesting story lines like Marlie's relationship with her mother and folk practices, Ewan's neuroatypical-ness, racism within the abolitionist movement and many more. It's a more contained and introspective story. I liked it so 3 stars.
