I feel like this book wasn't for me. Although the story does stand on its own, it's clear that the authors warning in the beginning about needing the context of his other books isn't without merit. I found the writting style a little repetitive and the use of simillies felt distracting rather than painting a clear picture. It's clear that the author put a lot of thought into this world and its inhabitants, but it's not a world that captivates me. I think this book is more for the fans of this world and author than new readers, and that's perfectly fine.
