Much like Nothing But Blackened Teeth, this was a book I was looking forward to reading for quite a while.... only to be sorely disappointed.
I immediately felt like this was not the story I signed up for in the first few pages, and decided to trust my instincts and looked on GR for spoilers. I was hoping maybe it was just a rough start and it got better. Because I really wanted to like this book. I really wanted to read and enjoy it.
Nope. Not even close. This book was not at all what I thought it was and, frankly, has a pretty damn insincere portrayal of mental illness along with a bunch of other shit that I wasn't wanting in this story (or the story I thought I was getting) aka I don't need graphic descriptions of child abuse and torture. Like at all.
The potential story I had thought up in my own head was better than the one this turned out to be.
