The Bread the Devil Knead by Lisa Allen-Agostini

5.0

What a solid little book with a powerful narrative. I think at the center of the book is Alethea's perspective written in Trinidadian Creole, it's oozing with character and personality while also giving us a glimpse into the culture. Not only that, but the focus on a woman's journey surviving abuse and chasing freedom is beautiful. One of my top 5 books read this year for sure!
