Doctor Who: 12 Doctors, 12 Stories by Eoin Colfer, Charlie Higson, Richelle Mead, Alex Scarrow, Derek Landy, Holly Black, Philip Reeve, Patrick Ness, Marcus Sedgwick, Neil Gaiman, Michael Scott, Malorie Blackman

4.0

This is a collection of 12 short stories, one for each of the 12 reincarnations of The Doctor that we've seen so far.
I, personally, started with Nine (portrayed by Christoher Ecclestone - I think that's the perfect point where to start with the whole series) so I didn't know too much about the first eight reincarnations. Therefore, I can also not really say much about how hit or miss the portrayal in the first eight stories were.

I think this is a delightful collection that shows the various character traits of The Doctor, as well as some of his companions. The stories are all adventurous, penned by a different writer each, and all very good.

My paperback boxed versions have the suits of the different Doctos as covers:

Sadly, my box is not made to look like the TARDIS as I had hoped, but I'm going to change that. ;)

The reason I knew about this was that Neil Gaiman had written the story about Eleven and I can never resist a Gaiman (especially since Eleven was my favourite Doctor - at least until Clara showed up). Thankfully, I decided to get and read them all, otherwise I really would have missed out on some very inventive ideas that were presented in the fantastic and characteristic wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey way.

Below, there's a list of the stories linked to the respective status update I had posted to give you an idea about what the story was about and how I liked it:
1) A Big Hand For the Doctor
2) The Nameless City
3) The Spear of Destiny
4) The Roots of Evil
5) Tip of the Tongue
6) Something Borrowed
7) The Ripple Effect
8) Spore
9) The Beast of Babylon
10) The Mystery of the Haunted Cottage
11) Nothing O'Clock
12) Lights Out

Great for any Doctor Who fan (you really shouldn't read them unless you've seen at least some of the TV show).
