This was my favorite of the series (so far???)!!! Dare I say this is one of my favorite Laura Pavlov books??! I swear each book keeps getting better and better; I liked book one, really liked book two, and LOVED book three, and I actually worry I won't be able to handle how good the next books in this series are. This book follows Brinkley Reynolds, who was just fired from her job as a sports journalist. She returns to her small town of Cottonwood Cove to do some freelance journalism until she finds something new. And who does she run into immediately upon her return? None other than Lincoln Hendrix, NFL hotshot quarterback and the man who (unknowingly) got her fired. He's staying in town during his off time to escape the suffocating press who is always up in his business. He didn't mean to get her fired, and when he hears about it, he gets her her job back (to which she says, "No thanks"). Lincoln then offers to give her an exclusive interview (even though he's notoriously tight-lipped) and let her be the first to release where he will be playing next season. This is a true enemies to lovers book. Both Brinkley and Lincoln have reasons to hate each other: Brinkley because he got her fired and Lincoln because she followed him into the bathroom.
I love small town, big family books, and Laura's books ALWAYS deliver. I can't WAIT for the last two books, especially Cage's. I love how Laura's worlds interconnect, and we get little glimpses into their cousins' (from Honey Mountain) lives. Brinkley reminds me a lot of Dylan from Honey Mountain. They're both feisty, independent, and bold. Oh, and of course I love the text messages between the siblings. Their conversations are hilarious, and I love how close they all are. And Lincoln's relationship with Cage's daughter? Adorable. Warmed my heart and made me want to cry at the same time.
