The Troop by Nick Cutter

4.25

This was a tough read for me: the use of extremely graphic (by graphic, I mean visually) language to describe what was happening made me cringe more than once and got me nauseous. Oddly enough this was exactly what I was looking for.  The fact that this was happening to young teenagers, however, almost made me stop reading a few times.

The whole scene with the two boys trying to kill the turtle in order to eat and survive really shocked me to my core.  It made them realize that killing, even a small animal, took something from you (in their case their innocence, but also literally their appetite), which made us realize how deranged Shelley was in contrast.
