Nothing less than magnificent describes Knox‘s writing style. Because of the careful crafting of each sentence, I was drawn more and more into the twisted and terrible world that she has constructed. Her atmospheric and evocative style conjures up vivid images that will stay in my mind long after the book is closed. Every scene, from the sumptuous halls of power to the bleak surroundings of the dystopian setting, is brought to life with an extraordinary vividness.

Heartless Heathens is centered around a mystery that eluded me until the very end. As I attempted to piece together the truth behind the mysteries that linger in the gloomy underbelly of the campus, Knox deftly combines a number of narrative strands. Knox adds another twist to the story just when I believed I had everything figured out, leaving me gasping and wanting more.

But Heartless Heathens is a captivating read for more reasons than only the mystery. Knox has crafted a cast of characters that are as complex and multifaceted as the world they inhabit.
