The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

3.0

I thought this mystery novel was competent but definitely over-hyped. I found it slow-going mid way through, and I can't say the denouement was particularly surprising, but all in all it was satisfying. I find Galbraith/Rowling's writing style irksome at times. It hasn't changed or improved much since the Harry Potter books, but at least those tomes provided great story. This lesser work does not.

Memorable phrase: "when her mouth puckered into hard little lines around the cigarette, it looked like a cat’s anus."
