Trayvon Martin Ten Years Later A Mother's Essay by Sybrina Fulton

5.0

Today I made a post on tumblr with the book cover and three quotes I cherished the most. This was before finished the essay. As I kept reading. I highlighted more quotes, and more quotes. I even went back and slowed down my reading and highlighted more. This essay was so powerful to me, so well written. She pours her emotions in this book, all her perspectives, her journey in this horrible tragic incident that happen with her son. You can feel all that is written. I can see her side because I am a mother. I can see her side because my sister was taken away, and I was not ready. She says, "Sometimes you have to step into roles that you do not want. You can find the strength from within if you are willing to live in your purpose". For her to say this, to be so strong. To let us into her world is everything. I cried reading this essay/listening. I want to hug her. I am angry for her. I want to tell her I am proud of her for writing this essay. It definitely is not an easy thing to do. My gosh her writing is great and captured so much. Trayvon your parents loved you so much. Your mom will have to tell your story in order to tell hers too. You were taken away so soon, It is not fair. May Trayvon Martin rest in peace.
