The Troop

Super dull.
I tried to read this several times because I really felt like I’d love it, based on the premise.
However the storytelling is awful … all telling, no showing and lots of time spent with the narrators rambling about distant past events. Just couldn’t get into it, no matter how hard I tried. No star-rating.
Audio:
The narrator was hard to take, as he sounded more like AI than a human—which, if I enjoyed, I could just have Siri or Alexa read my much-cheaper eBooks to me. His voice is okay, and if he didn’t have the bot-vibe going on, he’d have been great.
As it stands, 2-stars for performance.
And the overall sound quality isn’t good, there’s echoing and other issues. 2-stars for production.
