Taking Chances
by Molly McAdams
First of all, please excuse this review for spellings and grammar mistakes cause I am running on about 2 hours of sleep. With that said, here we go- OK, so I am gonna start off by saying that I LOVED this book, until about 54% into it, that is. I would have been perfectly happy having it end right before that with maybe a wedding or birth or something added into it. It was gonna be my next "Beautiful Disaster", I was sure of it. I was so hooked and didn't even go to sleep until almost 8am (being a big ole' sobbing mess cause I cried so hard) because I was dying to continue. Having got up at 10 am, I started right back into it, hoping and praying that maybe Harper was having a bad dream and it was all gonna be ok after all. Boy, I was sure wrong about that. I completely lost interest after that. There was so much potential in this plot to have an awesome 5 star story, but at 55% thru, it just went down hill from there. The story was a bit believeable in the beginning but then after the incident, it just all became a bit far fetched. No one is gonna move on two months after their lover's/boyfriend's/unborn fetus's father's passing. It is just not even enough time to grieve much less commit to someone else. And with "Mom" and "Dad" pushing them to be together also. I get the love triangle. They actually make a book pretty awesome. What I don't get is having a main character killed off and then continuing the story with the two exes getting back together so soon after, and even their parents and friends are rooting for them so soon. So it didn't just end with the exes getting back together. Nope, it was dragged out even more to have them getting into fights about his "underground fights", ex guyfriends coming back into the picture, a wedding, births, parties.. basically just a bunch of unwanted nothing.
So I recommend to those of you who read this book or want to read this book - Only read to about 54%, then write your own conclusion in your head cause whatever you come up with, will be a whole heck of a lot better than the ending to this!! I really think that Molly McAdams should rewrite the last part of the book. I can't stress enough how disappointed I was with the last half and I really feel like that is time wasted that I will never get back.
